Our philosophy at Define Mind is rooted in a pluralistic approach to practice. This means that, as therapists, we work by combining methods from different therapeutic approaches into a coherent whole based around what clients and therapists consider to be most suitable. By taking a collaborative approach to therapy, we are able to tailor our practice to suit individual needs, enabling and empowering clients to think forwards in relation to therapeutic outcomes and consider factors surrounding particular preferences, wants and goals. What can you expect from a first session?
An initial consultation provides clients and therapists with an opportunity to establish the nature and course of therapy. During initial consultations, therapists are likely to discuss your history, experience, and goals for therapy before establishing and discussing a therapeutic plan.
What can you expect from follow-up sessions?
How frequently you see your therapist, and how many sessions you engage in, will depend on your individual circumstances. At Define Mind, we offer both short and longer-term therapies to suit your particular needs and provide weekly one-to-one sessions to individuals experiencing challenges in areas of mental health and emotional wellbeing. These sessions are known as ‘follow-ups’.

Sessions that involve practices of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy are likely to involve therapeutic exercises that require completion over the course of therapy. Often these are conducted collaboratively between client and therapist in sessions: however, clients can also expect to receive therapeutic tasks that call for engagement outside sessions.
